The Hammond Urban Enterprise Association, Northwest Indiana Brownfield Redevelopment Project, City of Hammond, and the Redevelopment Commission with the support of stockholders, continues to make strides in brownfield remediation. The partnership between public and private entities generated funds to transform contaminated land into prime commercial retail space. After the environmental redevelopment of the land, the partners searched for community friendly businesses to occupy the vacant property.
Recent activities include the opening of CINTAS, which employs 200 people. In addition, area properties owners and residents relocated, two structures were demolished, and additional work completed of a looped water system. Marketing efforts have been increased in the expectation of interested developers. |
